There are several historic houses and castles to visit: Chirk is on the doorstep, a huge border fortress completed in 1310. A little further afield explore the Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty such as Ceiriog Valley, the Berwyn Mountains and Pistyll Rhaeadr, the highest waterfall in Wales.
