This small site is very attractively landscaped in an interesting village within easy reach of the shops. Newcastleton is a Borders village in the heart of Liddesdale, peaceful and unspoilt now, but the scene of many a bloody battle between Scots and English in the past. Today the village is famous for the traditional music festival in late June/early July and for the sport offered by its rivers and the challenges of the rolling hills, so the walker and angler will find this very attractive. For the historian there's Hermitage Castle, where Mary Queen of Scots once met her lover the Earl of Bothwell; the House at Jedburgh where she is reputed to have stayed, and just across the border, Carlisle Castle and Hadrian’s Wall.
